The premium Navratri event in Ahmedabad had twenty-three sponsor banners around the venue, a celebrity designer as the dress code curator, and a DJ who had done Coachella. Our brief was to make the garba circle itself feel otherworldly.
We positioned sparkular fountains at the four cardinal points of the garba circle, firing in sequence to match the garba rhythm — not the music beat, but the actual physical movement cycle of the dancers. The effect was that the sparks seemed to respond to the crowd. By the third round, the garba circle had doubled in size. The event sold out its next three nights before midnight.
