What Does "Licensed Pyrotechnics Company" Mean in India?

In India, pyrotechnic display companies operating under the Explosives Act, 1884 must hold licenses issued by PESO — the Petroleum Explosives Safety Organisation, which operates under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. A PESO license covers display, storage, handling, and transport of pyrotechnic products. FirepowerSFX has maintained continuous PESO-compliant licensing since 1999. Hiring an unlicensed operator exposes the host family to legal liability in the event of any incident — licensed operation is both a legal requirement and a safety assurance.

PESO (peso.gov.in) is the apex technical body in India for explosives safety regulation. Pyrotechnics companies must meet PESO's qualification, equipment, and operational standards to hold and renew their display licenses. These standards cover:

FirepowerSFX meets or exceeds all PESO requirements across our full portfolio of effects — from cold sparkular at indoor weddings to outdoor aerial fireworks displays.

A zero-incident record across 5,000+ events is not luck — it is the direct result of strict pre-event protocols, licensed operators, and a refusal to cut corners on safety clearances. FirepowerSFX was founded in 1999 by Yogendra Parekh (Founder) and Dipakbhai Rajpara (Co-Founder), both of whom remain hands-on in every large-scale event. No event is too small to merit a full safety walkthrough before setup begins.

Why this matters for your wedding:

A pyrotechnics incident at a wedding — even a minor one — can ruin the event, injure guests, and expose the host family to legal liability if the operator was unlicensed. FirepowerSFX's 25-year safety record, combined with government licensing, is your assurance that every effect will be executed flawlessly and without incident.

Our 5-Step Safety Protocol — Applied to Every Single Event

1

Venue Safety Walkthrough (90 min before event)

Our operator visits the venue before guests arrive. They assess ceiling height, clearance zones, proximity to drapes and floral decor, fire extinguisher locations, evacuation routes, and power supply. Any unsafe positioning is corrected before setup begins.

2

Machine Positioning & Clearance Check

Machines are positioned according to PESO minimum clearance standards: minimum 8 ft ceiling clearance for cold sparkular, minimum 1.5–2 m lateral clearance from guests and flammable materials. Positions are marked before equipment is assembled.

3

Test Fire (Before Guests Enter)

Every machine is test-fired with no guests present. This confirms proper operation, correct spark height for the ceiling, and timing calibration. Any machine that does not perform to specification is replaced from our backup inventory.

4

Timed Cue Execution (Licensed Operator Only)

Every cue is fired exclusively by our licensed operator — guests never touch or operate equipment. Cues are synchronised with your DJ and event coordinator via a briefed cue sheet. The operator controls all timing to the second.

5

Post-Event Cleanup & Safe Disposal

After all ceremonies, our operator removes all equipment, sweeps any residual sparkle powder, and clears the venue. For aerial fireworks, shells and duds are collected and disposed of per PESO requirements. The venue is left cleaner than we found it.

Safety Clearances by Effect Type — What's Safe Where

Cold sparkular, CO2 jets, and fog machines are 100% indoor-safe at standard Gujarat wedding venues with no permit required. Only outdoor aerial fireworks require a separate PESO display permit, which the client or event planner must obtain from local authorities with at least 2 weeks' notice — FirepowerSFX provides the documentation needed to support the application.

Safety Clearances by Pyrotechnic Effect — Gujarat Wedding Events

Aerial Fireworks Outdoor only Open sky 100 m radius PESO permit required Yes

My Venue Says "No Fireworks" — Can We Still Use Cold Pyro?

Yes, in almost all cases. Cold sparkular is categorically different from traditional fireworks or sparklers. It produces zero smoke, zero open flame, and sparks at only 30–50°C — below the threshold to ignite or scorch any surface. Most Gujarat banquet halls that prohibit fireworks will permit cold pyro once our operator provides a brief technical explanation or demonstration. We have never been refused cold pyro permission at an indoor AC venue in Gujarat.

Many venue managers and hotel event coordinators are unfamiliar with cold sparkular technology and default to "no fireworks" when asked. FirepowerSFX provides a written technical brief on request — explaining the zero-smoke, zero-fire-risk profile of cold sparkular — that can be shared with your venue's management or fire safety officer.

If your venue has genuine concerns after our explanation, we will coordinate a direct conversation between our operator and the venue's event coordinator before the booking is confirmed. In 25 years of operation, we have not had a cold pyro booking refused at any Gujarat indoor venue.

Frequently Asked Questions — Pyrotechnics Safety & Licensing Gujarat

Is FirepowerSFX a PESO-licensed pyrotechnics company?
Yes. FirepowerSFX holds all statutory licenses under the Explosives Act, India, regulated by PESO — Petroleum Explosives Safety Organisation, Government of India. Our licensing covers pyrotechnic display, storage, handling, and transport, continuously maintained since 1999.
Do I need a permit for cold sparkular at a Gujarat wedding?
No separate event permit is required for cold sparkular (cold pyro) at indoor wedding venues in Gujarat. Cold sparkular uses electrically-ignited titanium powder and is not classified as display pyrotechnics under the same regulatory framework as aerial fireworks. For outdoor aerial fireworks, a PESO display permit is required from local authorities. Obtaining this permit is the responsibility of the client or their event planner — FirepowerSFX provides supporting documentation (equipment specs, safety certifications, PESO licence copies) and operates only once a confirmed permit is in place.
What is PESO and why does it matter for wedding fireworks?
PESO (Petroleum Explosives Safety Organisation) is the Government of India regulatory body that issues licenses for pyrotechnic display, manufacture, storage, and transport under the Explosives Act, 1884. A PESO-licensed company has been vetted, insured, and authorised to operate display fireworks at events. Hiring an unlicensed operator exposes the host family to legal liability in the event of any incident.
Has FirepowerSFX ever had a safety incident?
No. FirepowerSFX has delivered 5,000+ events across Gujarat since 1999 — 25+ years — with zero recorded safety incidents. This is the result of strict pre-event venue walkthroughs, licensed operators only, mandatory test fires before guests arrive, and post-event cleanup protocols for every booking.
What is the minimum ceiling height for cold pyro at a Gujarat wedding venue?
Cold sparkular requires a minimum 8 feet (2.4 m) of ceiling clearance above the machine nozzle. This clears the top of the spark shower without risk of scorching ceiling fabric, lighting rigs, or AC ducts. Most Gujarat banquet halls (12–16 ft ceilings) comfortably meet this clearance. Our operator always confirms ceiling height during the pre-event walkthrough.
Are outdoor aerial fireworks by FirepowerSFX also PESO licensed?
Yes. Outdoor aerial fireworks displays require a PESO display permit issued by the local district authority. Securing this permit — application, site plan submission, and inspector coordination — is the responsibility of the client or their event planner. FirepowerSFX supports the process with equipment specifications, safety certifications, and licensing documentation, and requires a confirmed permit in place before operating. Minimum booking notice for aerial fireworks is 2 weeks to allow time for permit processing.
What if something goes wrong during the event?
Every FirepowerSFX event includes backup equipment for all critical ceremony moments. Our operators are trained in emergency shutdown procedures and carry fire suppression equipment at every event. In the event of any equipment malfunction, the effect is safely shut down and replaced from backup inventory — guests see no disruption. In 25 years, this protocol has never needed to be invoked for a safety reason.
