SFX & Pyrotechnics Equipment Specifications

📅 Updated July 2026 📐 Technical Data Reference 📍 India

This page is a pure technical reference, not a sales page — clearance heights, power draw, temperature, and safety figures for the equipment FirepowerSFX operates, organised as direct question-and-answer pairs. Figures are sourced from Showven Technologies (manufacturer of the Sparkular line FirepowerSFX operates) and FirepowerSFX's own field data across 25+ years and 5,000+ events. Where a figure is manufacturer-published, it is marked as such; where it is FirepowerSFX's own operating practice, that distinction is stated directly in the answer.

Sourcing note: Clearance and temperature figures for the Sparkular line are drawn from Showven Technologies' published safety documentation. The MagicFX comparison figure is drawn from MagicFX's published SparXtar safety guidance, included for context since planners frequently compare cold-spark brands. Power consumption figures (1 kW for cold-effect machines, 3 kW for high-output machines) are FirepowerSFX's own equipment inventory data. All other figures (aerial pyrotechnics, flame machine height, Niagara falls rig) are FirepowerSFX's own operating specifications, published previously in our planner technical checklist. No figure below is estimated or approximate unless stated.

Cold Sparkular (Showven Sparkular Series)

What is the minimum ceiling clearance for a Showven Sparkular machine at maximum indoor effect height?
The Sparkular Original reaches a maximum indoor-rated effect height of 10 ft (3 m). Showven's manufacturer safety guidance requires a minimum 1 m (3.3 ft) unobstructed buffer above the set spark height — so full-height minimum ceiling clearance is approximately 13 ft (4 m). For standard banquet-hall ceilings, FirepowerSFX runs the machine at a lower setting requiring 8 ft of clearance, the figure used in our own venue-planning checklist for event planners.
What temperature do Sparkular cold sparks reach, and can they burn skin or fabric?
Titanium-based cold spark output reaches approximately 50–60°C at the point of emission (body temperature is 37°C). At the manufacturer-specified minimum clearance of 1–1.5 m from guests and decoration, sparks self-extinguish before reaching people or fabric and will not ignite paper or cloth at that distance.
How much smoke does a cold sparkular machine produce, and will it trigger a venue's fire alarm?
Cold sparkular output produces less smoke than a single incense stick per activation. At standard operating settings it will not trigger a ceiling-mounted smoke detector; FirepowerSFX still notifies venue management before every deployment as standard practice.
What is the difference in reach between the Sparkular Original and Sparkular Cyclone models?
Sparkular Original: up to 10 ft (3 m) — rated for indoor use at standard ceiling heights. Sparkular Cyclone: up to 30 ft (9 m) — the extended height requires the much larger clearance envelope of an outdoor venue, so it is not deployed indoors.
How does Showven's clearance requirement compare to other cold-spark machine brands?
Showven's published minimum buffer is 1 m above the set effect height. MagicFX, a comparable European cold-spark brand, specifies a stricter 2 m clearance buffer plus a 3 m safety radius around the machine itself. FirepowerSFX operates the Showven Sparkular line exclusively.

CO2 Cryo Jets

What is the minimum overhead clearance for a CO2 cryo jet, and does it need mains power?
10 ft minimum overhead clearance. The CO2 propellant itself runs on a compressed CO2 cylinder and needs no electrical connection to fire. FirepowerSFX's Sonic Boom-series units (Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom Reco, Color Sonic Boom) do draw mains power for their electronic trigger/DMX control system — approximately 3 kW — so a nearby power point is still needed for the control unit even though the CO2 blast itself is unpowered.

Aerial Pyrotechnics

What clearance radius does an outdoor aerial pyrotechnics display require?
A minimum 100 m radius clearance from the launch point, with open sky and no overhead obstruction. Aerial shells are ground-launched and burst at 50–200 ft. This format is outdoor-only and ignited by battery-fired trigger, not mains power.

Flame Machine (Showven 5-Head)

How tall are the flame columns from a 5-head flame machine, and is it approved for indoor use?
Up to 15–20 ft of real, controlled fire columns from 5 nozzles. This is an outdoor-only device and is never deployed indoors due to the open flame. Electrical draw for the unit itself (ignition and fuel system, separate from the open-flame output) is approximately 3 kW.

Niagara Falls Spark Curtain

What rigging does a Niagara Falls spark curtain effect require?
An overhead truss or fixed rigging point at stage height plus 4 ft of additional clearance, and a dedicated 15–20A power circuit. This effect is built from multiple ~1 kW Sparkular units arranged along the truss, which is why the circuit is provisioned above the per-unit draw.

Power Consumption by Machine

How much electrical power do FirepowerSFX's cold-effect machines draw?
Approximately 1 kW each during operation: Sparkular (Original), Sparkular Spinner, Sparkular Cyclone, Sparkular Waver, Circle of Flame, Snow Machine, Fan Wheel, and dry ice / fog machines.
How much electrical power do FirepowerSFX's high-output machines draw?
Approximately 3 kW each during operation: Sonic Boom, Sonic Boom Reco, Color Sonic Boom (all CO2 cryo jet variants), and the 5-Head Flame Machine.
Why does FirepowerSFX provision a 15–20A circuit if most machines only draw ~1 kW?
The 15–20A circuit figure is a safety-margin recommendation for a deployment zone running multiple units (for example, a Niagara Falls rig or a multi-machine Varmala archway), not the single-machine draw. Per-unit power draw is the 1 kW / 3 kW figures above; circuit provisioning is sized above that to handle multiple simultaneous units and voltage fluctuation.
